Guadalajara
is, without any doubt, one of the most representative cities in México.
It is the land where traditions and customs such as mariachi music, and charrería
(horsemanship) that represent México to the world were born. But above
all, Guadalajara is known for its hospitality and the cheerfulness of its people.
Its vast collection of colonial buildings in the heart of the city, such as the
Cathedral; the Cabañas Cultural Institute, which was declared a World Heritage
site by the UNESCO in 1997, and which houses murals by José Clemente Orozco;
the Degollado Theater, its many squares, fountains and arbors have given the city
international fame. It is a city where the comforts of the modern world are combined
with tradition. The city is also known as the City of the Roses, where visitors
can delight in its more than 50 shopping centers and where they can find the best
hotels, from family hotels to those categorized as Grand Tourism by world-known
hotel chains. Every year the city hosts an International Mariachi Fair, an International
Book Fair and the Mexican Film Festival. Important events such as these take place
in the various and beautiful venues Guadalajara has to offer such as Expo Guadalajara,
one of the most important Convention and Exhibition Centers in Latin America.
In
Zapopan, municipality of great contrasts, you can also find neoclassic
buildings combining cosmopolitan city with the traditional feel of a little town.
Here, in Zapopan, there is a wide variety of attractions that range from religious
and cultural demonstrations, to museums, parks, archeology, outstanding cuisine,
shopping, protected natural areas, night clubs, golf courses, adventure, sports,
family fun and modern facilities for fairs, congresses and expositions.
In Tlaquepaque, a pleasant and welcoming town, major center of handicrafts
in México, visitors can find the artisans working in their homes, which
have been converted to workshops and galleries, making anything from furniture
to extraordinary pieces of red glass, unique to the world. Tonalá,
pottery town whose name means The place where the Sun rises, is world
known as a place where many arts and crafts have been made since Pre-Hispanic
times. A high percentage of its population produces and sells handicrafts with
the magic of tonaltecs. These woderful places make up the metropolitan zone of
Guadalajara, all of them different, contrasting and similar at the same time.
Tequila,
the magical town where the national beverage of the same name was born, is 35
km. from the metropolitan zone of Guadalajara, and is proud to be home of the
blue agave, from which the tequila is extracted. Visitors can see the tequila
making process in the beautiful haciendas and tequila factories around town. It
is easily accessible by road or by the Tequila Express, an extraordinary train
ride that leaves Guadalajara, and where the party begins from the moment you get
on board.
Hotels The
city has a large number of hotels, among which, seven luxury hotels, with a total
of 1,817 rooms, stand out as appropriate for incentive company trips.
