Morelia,
originally called Valladolid, is one of México´s most beautiful historic
and colonial cities. Its somber, elegant buildings are constructed of pink limestone,
and its cathedral is one of the most pleasingly proportioned in all the Americas.
Because Morelia houses so many palaces and art treasures, UNESCO declared the
city a Cultural World Heritage Site. Nearby, especially in the area known as the
Meseta Purépecha, there are many interesting sights; some of
them are among México´s most well preserved treasures. Morelia is
synonymous with refinement and any participant in an incentive trip to this city
will be guaranteed attentive. Morelia offers a dedicated service in a spectacular
setting.
Hotels Morelia
has four Special Category hotels that are ideal for small incentive groups looking
for highly personalized service.

Special Activities for Incentive Groups
Natural
and Urban Landscape A stroll through the streets of Morelia is
the best way to appreciate the city´s unique architecture. Open-air art
shows are held along Calzada San Diego, one of the most delightfully
tranquil spots in Morelia. Shopping and Art
Arts and Crafts A number of shops carry items hand-crafted from
wood, cooper, straw and other materials. The largest selection is found in the
handicrafts center Casa de Las Artesanias located in the former San
Francisco Convent. Nightlife and Shows Morelia
is known for its rich cultural life, especially for the recitals and concerts
held in its historic buildings. Consult the schedule of events at: www.michoacan.gob.mx
Unique
Attractions The tourist tram that leaves from the plaza San Francisco,
at down town, only 2 blocks away from the Cathedral, is great for any incentive
trip. At night, storytellers take visitors on tours of some of the historic buildings
(with luck, they will include the crypt of the churches), and recount legends
about the city. Any time of the year, Morelia makes an excellent base
for visiting Pátzcuaro, Santa Clara del Cobre and Janitzio. During the
winter months, tours can be scheduled to the Sanctuary of the Monarch Butterfly.
Arrangements can be made through one of the local travel agencies.
