MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS OF THE CITY

Mazatlán combines the charm of its beaches with the uncomparable beauty of its historical sites, namely the Historical Center which was designated as a National Historical Heritage Center in 1990, and the Angela Peralta Theater and Machado Square, where Restaurants, Coffee shops and Art Galleries operate.
As well as the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, the Art and Archeological Museums, the High Waves Promenade, the Centenary, the Deer Monument, The Mazatlec Woman Monument, The Queen of the Seas, The Sánchez Taboada Esplanade, the Continuity of Life Monument, the Monument to the Fisherman, the Monument to “La Pulmonía” and the Centenary of the Pacific Beer Monument.
Other attractions include the Aquarium, the 31 of March Fort, the Mazagua Aquatic Park and the second tallest lighthouse in the world.

Unique Attractions
The local taxis, called “Pneumonias” are sedan Volkswagen cars built without windows and therefore, they have “natural” air conditioning. The recently remodeled Mazatlán Malecón promenade in the “Minimalist” style. The Historical Center with buildings from the end of the 19th century, is one of the places that distinguishes Mazatlán to other tourist sites in the Pacific Coast and makes it the pride of the people of Mazatlán.

Nightlife

Mazatlán’s nightlife is intense and continues into the early hours. There are a large number of restaurants, bars and discotheques in the tourist area, known as the Zona Dorada, or Golden Zone. The Historic Center, specially around Plazuela Machado, has a bohemian atmosphere and is home to many small restaurants that are especially popular with locals.

A number of shopping malls and boutiques in the Zona Dorada sell clothing and handicrafts.

Sports
Mazatlán is internationally known as the “Swordfish Capital of the World Capital” because of the large number of factors, which make it suitable for sport fishing. Similarly here one can practice scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing, wind sailing, jet skiing, parachute rides, beach volleyball, mountain cycling on the “Piedra Blanca” world track, surfing, golf in the Cid Country Club, tennis and much more. In Mazatlán there are a variety of places for ecotourism and adventure holidays. There are also picturesque villages where colonial furniture and handicrafts are made.

Around the City

Copala
Designed specially for people wishing to know the region of Mazatlán. First you visit the town of Malpica, then Concordia, a handicraft town dedicated to the manufacture of furniture, bricks and clay handicraft and lastly Copala, a town founded 400 years ago in the middle of mountains. You visit the old prison , the Saint Joseph Church and the colonial style houses.

Deer Island
Enjoy nature in a “Kolonahe” on the Deer Island dive in to the crystalline water, the best place to snorkel and relax on the white sands of the isle.

El Quelite
A beautiful and tranquil city located on the Quelite River. El Quelite is considered the “Magic City”. The color of its houses is impressive, made with sun-dried bricks and red tile rooves covered with lovely bougainvilleas. Its streets are perfectly paved. A visit to a traditional bakery is included, a cheese factory and the only ranch in México where fighting cocks are still trained.

Enjoy a romantic and exclusive afternoon on board the Trimaran with a trip round the Bay to observe one of the most beautiful sunsets in the Pacific.

Tour of the Old Mazatlán

To visit Old Mazatlán is to encounter the heart of harbor life. The zone, which is located very near “High Waves” stayed forgotten for a long time, nevertheless, since the remodeling of the Angela Peralta Theater, this place started to recover its old splendor. You can walk through its streets and alleys admiring the neoclassic architecture of the period, and learning about the history of its buildings. You can visit one of the oldest houses, which is today a traditional bakery. You could appreciate as well how a family from Mazatlán lived in the XIX century.

Rosary
To the south of Mazatlán “the Rosario”, Sinaloa, is located. It is known for its altarpiece made of gold leaf, which is found in the Virgin of the Rosary Church. Also you can visit the bottling factory of Tonycol, a unique refreshment, the Spanish graveyard and the Lola Beltran Museum.

Tequila
The “Noria” and the Tequila factory can be visited. The “Noria” is a community of handicraft workers, where you can feel the soul of México. In the leather workshops, you will find huaraches (sandals), saddles, and above all different kinds of very good leather. One can visit the Saint Anthony Church, built in the XVII century in the colonial style and you can walk through the very picturesque and cobbled streets. On the walk to the Tequilera you could taste a Tequila made 100% of agave.

Excursion to Visit the Turtles
The “Green Camacho” Station protects Sea Turtles. During the visit there is a short talk given by the biologist of the encampment, a ride on a motorbike along the beach and, if the river allows it, a boat trip through the mangroves.

Beer Factory of the Pacific

Beer is one of the most important industries of Mazatlán and visitors will de able to learn the makimg of Pacific Beer, sister company of Corona. Also one can visit the Company Museum and have the opportunity of a refreshing very cold beer.

The best and most fantastic show in Mazatlán includes free bar (national drinks), buffet supper and sensational dances with folkloric dances from all México and other countries.

Stone Isle
Starting from the Marina you will board a trimarán or catamarán for a one and half hour sail round the bay, while admiring the second tallest Natural Lighthouse in the world and the seals, after that, you will land on the Isla de Piedra (Stone Isle) for 3 hours of entertainment with, food included. Optional activities are offered on the beach such as horseback rides, banana, snorkeling and a ride in a cart through a coconut plantation.

A Jungle Ride
Ride in a barge through the Mazatlán mangroves. In this journey you are shown the Mazatlán shrimp and tuna fishing fleet, the Mexican Navy and the packing factories and passengers will be able to continue in a rustic carriage to the virgin beaches for a swim.

Sport Fishing
Depending on the season you can find marlin, sail fish, gilthead or tuna fish and observe the old fishing practices. All the boats are luxurious, and are 28, 31 or 33 feet long.

Water Sports

Snorkeling, kayaks, water motorbikes, bananas, parachutes, surf, sailing, water ski, boats trips and rides to the Deer Island.
