Park of the Cárcamos

The Park has a surface area of 11 hectareas approximatelly of which 2.5 are gardens, including forest areas with 1,416 trees of different species: “casuarina”, eucaliptus, Pepper Tree, willow and “mezquite” A greenhouse shelters approximately 200 decorative plants among which an outstanding collection of ferns and “crotos”
A lake or “cárcamo”, from which the park’s name is derived, is home to various species of acuatic birds both migratory such as the Canadian duck and residents like the North American Coot and white heron that nest and reproduce here. They also find shelter among the trees. The forest shelters various species of song birds like the sparrow and “dominico”. It boasts a series of walks for jogging or walking. The Park is situated to the north of the city and is reached by the “Prolongación Blvd. Adolfo Lopez Mateos“ before arriving at the Metropolitan Park.

This is a beautiful park in which you can admire two thousand animals of more than 220 different species among them polar and American bears, panthers, pumas, tigers, lions, etc. It boasts a lake with web footed birds and an aviary. It also has children’s games, horseback riding, a train, etc.
