HAMBURG READY
TO BE THE GREEN EUROPEAN CAPITAL 2011
Hamburg
aspires to be more sustainable future. The
selection to be the Green European Capital
in 2011 gave place to a wide range of measures
to foment the process of the sustainable
development in the city and to attack the
effects of the climatic change. Hamburg
can support the project of regeneration
HafenCity and the factory Airbus as examples
of economic progress in a foundation of
agreeable environment. From 1990, the city
has reduced the emission of CO2 in 15 per
cent. It is waiting for a more significant
reduction in the future, of 40 per cent
in 2020 and of 80 per cent in 2050. The
city will foment the boarding of the sustainable
tourism with more investments in the public
transport, the introduction of buses stimulated
by hydrogen, without gas emissions and a
city with a wide program of rent of bicycles
